The African Blogger’s Guide
After Blogging for the past 2 years firstly on Facebook and then eventually moving onto a Website, I have come to realise that the majority of Blogging advice and information out there does not cater to the conditions and circumstances of African Bloggers.
As such, I felt there was a need for a resource to address the challenges faced by African Bloggers specifically.
In addition to the problems faced by most other Bloggers around the world, there are also challenges that are unique to African Bloggers. The most obvious of which would be the relatively low penetration of E-commerce on the African Continent which makes it more difficult for African Bloggers to earn Online revenue than their counterparts in other parts of the world.
The good news is that in my view, these challenges are not insurmountable but they do require special attention and solutions unique to African conditions.
As such, in this Book, I share my experiences, challenges and the solutions I have managed to come up with so far to the problems and challenges I have faced as an African Blogger.
What is shared here can be used by anyone in the world, but I have also included specific solutions catering to the challenges faced by African Bloggers.
The Book covers the following topics and areas:

After watching countless YouTube videos, reading books and articles on Blogging and Content Marketing, its my hope that this Book will save you the time I spent going down all sorts of Blind alleys in search of solutions to problems I have encountered as an African Blogger.
If you apply the Strategies in this Book, you should be able to efficiently manage your own Website independently, build a foundation and audience for your Blog.
My own journey continues, and its my hope that this Book will make yours a little bit easier than mine has been.
In order to make the information more accessible, we have priced the Book at $2.00 so that the information is not out of reach to those who need it the most.
The Book extract below is the Chapter On Blog Promotion:
Promoting your Blog
Just because you don’t have money to spend on promoting your Blog does not mean it cannot be promoted effectively. The biggest investment required is Time and not Money, so whatever you cannot accomplish due to a limited budget, you can accomplish by investing Time.
There are basically two types of Promotion we’ll look at which I think are most relevant for our purposes: Paid Social Promotion and Unpaid Social Media Promotion.
Paid Social Media Promotion
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many other Platforms provide an affordable way to target a mass audience that would otherwise be inaccessible.
I’ve promoted or ‘Boosted’ Blog Posts via Facebook for a $1 a day for the number of days I think the post should run.
I cannot see any other way I would have been able to access my broad audience other than through Facebook Promoted Posts.
The value lies in what they can deliver for the amount they charge.
Secondly, the total amount I spend on Facebook per month on a couple of Posts could easily be spent over dinner on a single night out…To be able to spread that budget for a month to Promote your Blog, is in my view a golden opportunity.
Similarly, paid promotions on other Social Media Platforms can be catered to suit your Budget and the exposure they deliver if you are consistent is priceless when it comes to audience building.
For this reason, I would recommend that you allocate some resources towards Social Media Promotion but you don’t have to break the Bank.
Unpaid Social Media Promotion
Once Facebook reduced the organic reach of Facebook Fan Pages to less than 5% of Fans for Unpromoted Blog Posts, it would seem that there is no point in attempting to promote on Facebook without a Budget for Boosting Posts.
Luckily, there is a way you can promote your Blog effectively on Facebook and other Sites online without a Budget so you can attract Visitors or ‘Traffic’ to your Site without paying for Social Media promotion.
Facebook Groups within your niche can definitely be a good source of traffic and building your Online reputation as a Blogger. The same goes for Internet Forums and sites like Reddit which all have Groups/Forums you can post in.
The most important thing to remember is to respect the etiquette in each Forum and not to spam…You’d be surprised what ideas you could get for your Blog just by taking the time to read what others Post.
For the best results with unpaid Promotions be a consistent Contributor and Participant in the Groups and Forums you join.
Results here are achieved according to the amount of time you invest, and I believe that since this is an Organic approach, in time it will supersede the results from Paid Promotions and Google Search since the visits to your Website are by people who already have an interest in what you write about…This is the most superior Traffic from a Blog growth and Branding point of view so you should take full advantage of it.
In the final analysis, there are pros and cons to both paid and unpaid Blog promotion…The key thing to take away is that time invested and not money is the key determinant when it comes to promoting your Blog.
If you are willing to invest time in the right places, your Blog will reap the benefits whether or not you supplement that with Paid Promotion or if you gain traffic from a high Google ranking…Focus on reaching out to like-minded people.
I hope you found the information useful.
